At 30 meters (100 feet), El Pit reveals a hydrogen sulfide cloud, with eerie, submerged trees rising from the mist—an unforgettable sight similar to what's seen in Cenote Angelita. This cloud is created by natural bacteria that decompose organic matter falling into the cenote. It may look dramatic, but it’s completely harmless to dive through.
