Explore Espiritu Santo Island in the Sea of Cortez
Just over an hour by boat from La Paz, the Espiritu Santo Archipelago is a stunning natural paradise in the Sea of Cortez. Surrounded by crystal-clear blue waters and pristine white sand beaches, this protected area is home to a year-round colony of sea lions.
Visitors can choose to snorkel or scuba dive in these vibrant waters. Snorkeling must be done with a special flotation vest for safety. For those who scuba dive, the underwater experience includes exploring colorful reefs and encountering a variety of marine life beyond the sea lions.
Sea lions are often seen swimming near the surface, but occasionally, they may dive to interact with divers. To enjoy the closest encounters, it's best to stay in shallower waters where the sea lions tend to linger.
Please note: From June through August, aquatic activities with sea lions are restricted due to their mating season, ensuring the safety and well-being of these incredible animals.
